Gurugram: MCG has set deadline for the project to revive the pool with its limits on June 30, 2022.
There are 50 ponds in the civic body jurisdiction at this time.
Of these 50 pools, five pools have been revived and work on five other ponds has begun.
A senior official said the job would be finished before the next monsoon and the pool would be refilled with recycled water.
“The pool will be folded, cleaned and refilled with recycled water.
In addition, the tree will be planted around this pool.
This water body will help refill groundwater in the surrounding area,” said Subhash Yadav, MCG environmental nodal officials and sustainability wings .
The MCG official meeting was also held recently to discuss the project.
It was decided that the work had to be done before the next monsoon so that the runoff of water from the rain could be transferred to the pool.
MCG officials said there were 37 ponds within the boundaries of the previous Civic body, according to income records.
However, with the extension of the MCG limit in December 2020, around 13 ponds were added again.
Asked about the estimated expenditure for the rejuvenation of one pond, the official said around Rs 50 Lakh would be spent.
Swimming is located in Badshahpur, Ghata, Gwalpahari, Chauma, Jahajgarh, Tigra, Darbaripur, Body Khatola, Nathupur, Bandhwari, Subhash Nagar and Sihar among other MCG regions will be revived, according to the corporation.
The official also said additional land available on the pool site would be developed into a park.
For example, he said there were around five hectares of land intended for ponds in Subhash Nagar.
Of these five hectares, one to two hectares will be used to develop the park.
