Mysuru: One of the biggest barriers for electric vehicles is the lack of charging station, but Karnataka will soon get an answer to this.
The public electricity supply company has begun working at the opening of EV charging centers in important government offices and other places such as fuel stations, tourist attractions among others.
One of the ambitious announcements made in the state budget 2021-22 is setting 1,000 charging centers for electric vehicles to be set under public partnerships.
Now, this initiative has been carried out by the State Electricity Supply Company (ESCOM).
For example, in five Jurisuric districts – Mysuru, Hassan, Kodagu, Mandya, and Chamarajanagar – Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Ltd has proposed 150 centers like that, while the Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited, which has jurisdiction over the four districts, namely Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagalur, and Shivamogga, have proposed these centers in 170 locations.
The majority of these locations were identified near the place of government offices.
In five CESC jurisdiction districts, 150 locations in the place of government offices have been identified to establish this power station.
“We have identified the office located in urban areas,” explained Jayavibhava Swamy, MD, Cesc.
“We have sent proposals to the state government in this regard,” he said.
“Along with this, we also plan to set 100 other EV charging centers in tourist attractions such as Mysuru Zoo, restaurants, amusement parks, fuel stations etc.
where EV can cost you 30 minutes,” he said.
Prashant Kumar Mishra, Director of Executing, Mescom told that the corporation has given the target settings of the Charging Station 170 EV.
“In accordance with government orders, we identify 170 locations across mescom jurisdiction and send information to Bescom.
Bescom is a nodal agent.
Now they will conduct a feasibility study before raising proposals,” he explained.
“In addition, we also coordinate with fuel stations to take jobs at EV stations on the National Highway Dakshina Kannada and Udupi,” he explained.
