PANAJI: Half the work at the new Greenfield International Airport in Mapa has now finished, and GMR, Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL) has begun recruitment for the airport.
The civil aviation state director Suresh Shanbhoge told TOI that 75% of the work would be completed in March 2022, and at the same time, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation would begin testing at the airport.
During the test period, 25% of the remaining work will be completed.
“Until now, the target is inaugurated the airport on August 15 (2022),” he said.

The airport project will be completed in four phases.
The second phase construction will begin only after 80% of passenger traffic is handled.
In 2018, the center has given the principle approval for the construction of 8 km highway from Dhargali to Varconda.
The project rate has been stopped by the court process, including a permanent order of judicial due to environmental problems.
On January 16, 2020, the Supreme Court enforced environmental permissions (EC) of the project and allowed construction to continue.
