Patna: The Government of Kumar Nithis in Bihar has made a fresh tone to provide a special category status to the state, the request that has been made for “last 10-12 years”.
In a letter to Niti Aayog Deputy Chairperson of Rajiv Kumar, Bijendra Yadav, State Minister for Planning and Implementation, confirmed that Bihar “fulfilled all the criteria” set to provide special status.
The Minister seeks to join this problem with Niti Aayog for his recent report about the multidimensional poverty index where Bihar is placed at the bottom in the country.
The report was locked by the opposition who had used it to rub the claim of “rapid development” from the country because of climbing Kumar Nith.
In his letter, the Minister recognizes that Bihar stands far below the national average when it comes to indicators such as per capita income, ease of life and human development.
YADAV blamed the state on the “strange problem” Bihar “inland confined” which has a high population density with rare natural resources and was hit by vikisitudes such as drought and floods that affect more than half of the districts.
The Minister also complained about the “lack of initiative” in part of the center to establish public sector units in Bihar which could provide Fillip to “industrial growth and technical education” in the state.
In addition, Bihar “still lost the benefits of the green revolution”, said the Minister, highlighted the development of suboptimal agriculture in the state.
Apart from this limitation imposed by geography and history, the state has registered “strong growth rates in the past decade and half” and achieved “development with justice”, said Yadav.
He also claims that there are improvements in agriculture, power, roads and overall governance quality.
Indicates that Niti Aayog has been established with the economic purpose “transformation” of the state, Yadav emphasizes that the same thing cannot be done without changing Bihar.
The special category status grant will reduce the country’s obligations in connection with the welfare scheme and place the government in the position to distribute “tax discounts” and “financial subsidies” to attract private investment that can accelerate the engine growth, the Minister said.
Requests for the status of special categories of getting a currency after making Jharkhand in 2000 which disarm bihar from areas rich in mineral reserves.
Kumar raised Ante when he was famous to state in 2009 that he would support “every government in the center” that approved the request.
It was followed, a few years later, by a signature campaign where crores of citizens were issued to suppress the request for “Vishesh Rajya Ka Darza”.
