Thiruvananthapuram: The first omicron case in Kerala has been reported in Ernakulam.
The person who came from England had landed at Kochi airport on December 6.
He came through Abu Dhabi.
He was tested negative when he had reached the airport with his wife.
But he developed symptoms later and tested positively.
The sample was sent for the genome sequencing at the Biotechnology Center of Rajiv Gandhi where he had been tested positively for the new Coronavirus variant.
His wife has also been tested positively and its local contact in the state is his mother who has also been tested positive now.
The three people have been isolated.
The driver of the car where he went from the airport was also stored in observations.
The condition of all positive people is stable and they are undergoing hospital treatment.
He came with Etihad Airways (EY 280) and there were 149 passengers in flight.
But passengers who might have had a close relationship with him are those who experience seats between 26 and 32.
Because they will be under the high risk group all these passengers must be tested with direct effects.
All of these passengers have been identified.
Health Minister Veena George said all preventive measures were being taken according to central guidelines and contact lists of people who had come into contact with positive people were ready.
The steps have been taken to prevent all types of deployment, he said.
