Test line: Guv looking for an explanation from JPSC

Ranchi: After issuing the summons to the Chairperson of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) on November 24, Raj Bhavan once again stepped in seeking an explanation from the Commission on charges of irregularities on 7 to 10 combined combined JPSC by candidates.
“Because the candidates who protested wanted JSPC to be transparent, they approached the governor and then the letter was sent to the JPSC secretary to clarify their position on the accusation leveled on examination checks,” said an official Raj Bhavan.
The letter from the governor’s office has asked JPSC to give the earliest Point-Wise reply, adding documents folded by the protest candidates.
Previously the Governor had called the JPSC Chairman Amitabh Choudhary on November 24.
The governor’s chairman meeting resulted in JPSC with a five-page explanation the following day.
The commission in his explanation has recognized that around 57 candidates were declared eligible, even when their OMR sheets were not available with the Commission.
JPSC said that because the candidates were innocent so they were declared graduated, subject to supervision.
The commission, however, has never clarified that what is accounted for for lost OMR sheets or which agencies will conduct an investigation.
The new letter from Raj Bhavan was issued after JPSC appeared with another explanation record on December 11 on his website, stating that of the 57 candidates, eight previously disqualified for different reasons and the remaining 49 was found not to secure the qualification mark, therefore they were also disqualified.
The explanation failed to cut ice with protesters because it had demanded the publication of OMR sheets and marked the sheet of each candidate.
One of Kahkashan Kamal’s protesters said that JPSC admitted losing the OMR sheet from 49 candidates only after agitation.
“Maybe the sheets of several other candidates have also disappeared and they have been disqualified,” he said emphasizing that this doubt could be resolved only when the commission releases OMR sheets and marks the sheets of all candidates, regardless of that fact they have qualified or disqualified.
