Coimbatore: A male elephant around 18 years old entered a residential area at Ragavendra Nagar near Kanuvai on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday night.
Residents immediately told the front line staff of the coimbatore forest range, which rushed to the place and began driving to expel elephants to the reserve forest.
Wild Tusker has often visited the area for hours.
Elephants came out of the forest and crossed the path of Thadagam-Anaikatti near Ragavendra Nagar.
Next, he entered the residential area.
The residents and motorists warned the officer of the Coimbatore Forest Range of Arun Kumar.
The front line staff exploded crackers to drive the elephant to Forest Reserve.
However, the elephant entered the cornfield of 9:30 a.m., according to the last report received before the paper was sent to the press.
Officials said that wild elephants did not escape crackers.
More than 10 frontline staff are placed in the area to expel the elephant.
Residents were asked to remain in their homes.
