Guwahati: CBI on Tuesday arrested Northeast Railroad officials from Maligaon here for allegedly accepting bribes of Rs 15 Lakh.
The defendant was Ranjit Kumar Borah, Deputy Head of Electrical Engineer (Coaching), NFR.
Agent officers also arrested the person who paid bribes.
“The case is registered against Borah, a private company director based in Patna and its employees and other unknown civil servants and private people.
Allegedly that civil servants while posted before the Deputy Head of Electrical Engineers (Construction) in NF Railway (Construction) Two non-moving properties (flat) as alleged illegal satisfaction from Patna-based company directors, “CBI stated in the communique.
The CBI further said the defendant had demanded Rs 2.1 Crore bribes as a replacement of two flats to extend expily benefits in the past and also guaranteed to expand undue assistance in the future.
“It was also alleged that individuals began transferring bribes to public servants by recording Sleuth CBI searches at Borah’s residence in Hearangabari.
In March, the CBI arrested a senior NFR official from Assam for allegedly accepting RS 1 Lakh bribe.
Gogoi Swapadeep, a senior engineer who was declared in the coaching depot, NFR, was arrested by CBI officials on charges of allegedly demanding and receiving Rs 1 lakh from the complainant.
The Probe Agency in his exercises had alleged that Gogoi demanded bribery from a complainant to clean the delayed bills related to the train coach cleaning work in the training depot.
