Letter: As part of its impulse on drugs, city police will hold a national powerlifting championship three days from Friday.
More than 500 weightlifting of 14 countries will be VIE for the top award in the event to be held at the Katargam Community Hall.
This meeting was held jointly by city police and Gujarat sports associations with slogans ‘not for drugs, yes for sports’.
In 2020 city police have organized the state-level powerlifting and bodybuilding championship.
“The police organized sports events to divert young people from drugs and crime.
If young people want addiction, nothing is higher than exercise,” said Police Commissioner Ajay City Tomar.
Senior Powerlifting champions who have won national level events in the past will attend events to motivate participants.
“A large number of young people from the city are related to the police in our initiative to drugs.
We organize various sports events in various parts of the city,” added Tomar.
At present, the cricket tournament is detained in the City Limbayat area.
“It becomes a national event, local exercise people will have a shoulder with championship players.
Also, sports from the city and the country will have the opportunity to interact with athletes from other states,” said a police officer.
As part of an ongoing campaign ‘no drugs in the city of the letter’, the city police have won drugs worth Rs 4.83 Crore since September 2020 from within the city limits.
A total of 144 people were arrested in 40 cases registered with various police stations.
