Bhubaneswar: The state has received 10,968 applications for compensation for death because Covid, which is 2,529 more than the official victims of 8,439.
In a situation similar to Gujarat, where the number of applications was significantly higher than the official dead, calculations could rise further in Odisha too.
The application process has taken steps in the past week, officials said.
According to the data available with the Special Assistance Commissioner (SRC) office here, the state has approved the compensation of RS 50,000 respectively for KIN 5,142 deceased.
