Ramanathapuram: In two separate incidents since Saturday night, the Sri Lankan Navy detained 55 Tamil Nadu fishermen and grabbed their ship to fish in the territorial waters of the island.
On Saturday night, the Navy detained 43 fishermen from Ramanathapuram District Tamil Nadu and won six trawles.
Trawlers who were confiscated were among almost 570 mechanical and trawlers sailing from Rameswaram on Saturday morning for fishing.
They should be back on Sunday morning.

TMC (M) President G K Vasan states that it is the responsibility of the state and state government to protect the livelihood of fishermen and that they must end the actions taken by the Indian Navy against Indian fishermen to Indian fishermen.
