Ramanathapuram: In two separate incidents since Saturday night, the Sri Lankan Navy detained 55 Tamil Nadu fishermen and grabbed their ship to fish in the territorial waters of the island.
On Saturday night, the Navy detained 43 fishermen from Ramanathapuram District Tamil Nadu and won six trawles.
Trawlers who were confiscated were among almost 570 mechanical and trawlers sailing from Rameswaram on Saturday morning for fishing.
They should be back on Sunday morning.
The fishermen crossed the international maritime line (IMBL) late at night and was fishing on the sea from Neduntheevu ((Delft Island).
Sri Lankan Navy drove a smaller mechanical ship.
The incident occurred between 10 pm and 11 nights.
Fishermen, Back to the beach, said that the Sri Lankan Navy then held the fishermen on the ship six trawlers (bearing registration number Ind-TN-10-MM-753, Ind-TN-1033, Ind-TN-1033, Ind-TN-1033 , TN-10-MM-1003, IND-TN-10-MM-2576, IND-TN-10-MM-1037 and IND-TN-10-MM-161).
All men are held between 19 and 54 years old .

The founder of AMMK T V Dhinakanan also said that the Indian government must call the High Commissioner Sri Lanka in India and condemn this arrest by their navy.
