Chennai: About seven lakh people in Chennai are still caused by their second Covid-19 dosage vaccine, deepening concern with the threat of omicron that towered.
“More than 1 Lakh people took their second dose on the 15th mega vaccine camp on Saturday and about 7 lakh people would still mature for their second dose,” said Officer Health City Dr.
M M Jagousesan.
Based on night estimates, officials said about 2.32 lakh people were borne for both doses in the Mega camp Saturday.
Close to 25 lakh people have been covered by 15 mega camp vaccines and 88.59% of the qualified population have taken the first dose, while 66% have taken the second dose.
The Civic’s body has increased vaccination drive with 1,600 camps that are often held in busy areas to cover vulnerable populations and those caused by their second dose.
Experts say because the duration of longer covishield some people might even actually forget to take the second dose.
“Sending SMS to people who miss the dose or remind them with phone calls will help them take the second dose,” said Dr.
Ram Gopalakrishnan, a specialist of infectious diseases in Apollo Hospitals.
Dr.
Gopalakrishnan said if people did not take the second dose and they were infected, the infection would still be severe.
“There is also a great opportunity for them in oxygen support,” he said, adding that people must take the first second dose, even if there is a delay.
The second dose of obtaining significance as the National Covid-19 Supermodel Committee has also expected the third wave caused by Omicron.
Former Director of Public Health Dr K Kollandamy said there must be strict enforcement in cinema cinemas and other public places.
“The theater in many places does not check vaccine details.
The patient participants in hospitals are also not vaccinated in some cases.
This is risky,” he said.
Chennai is currently lagging behind in the scope of the second dose compared to the capital city of neighboring southern state.
