Nagpur: Upsetting two powerful groups, Atul Pande emerged triumphant in High Court Bar Association (HCBA) polls on Saturday.
Amol Jaltare expected to reach the struggle for the post of secretary in a keenly-contested election.
The election was marred by overly enthusiastic lawyers play slippers (traditional band) in front of the Nagpur bench of high court despite it being a zone of silence and dared violate the norm.
This continued for about 10-15 minutes right in front of the main gate until some senior HC intervened.

Some lawyers who witnessed the band raised questions about how the law keepers dared to violate the norms and demanded strict action against them.
They showed that in the 2010 elections, liquor openly distributed and consumed by a lawyer right inside the venue.

Although the court has taken cognizance and reprimanded HCBA caretaker period, no action was taken against errant lawyers.
Along with the Pande and Jaltare, Pankaj Tidke and Sharad Bhattad elected vice president, while PS Chawhan elected joint secretary.

Pande victory was a surprise for those who come from a strong group, including those supported by Manohar family and Shreerang Bhandarkar.
Previously, it is expected that there will be a tough fight between Sameer Sohoni and shridhar Purohit, but Pande scraped through with a staggering 78 biggies.
Pande victory is “no surprise” to his friends.

He has consistently raised the problems faced by young members of the bar for the last one and a half years.

Pande told TOI that he will continue the work started by the previous executive body.
“We will try to accommodate all the members in the bar room.
We will also try to provide a hygienic atmosphere.
We will make efforts to solve the problem of young lawyers and the study circle program restart stopped because Covid 19th pandemic.
” Jaltare told TOI that they would continue the project Nyaydoot and improvise it.
“We will ensure that junior lawyers get full guidance in all things.
Accelerate the construction of the annex will be a priority.
We will also improve facilities at HC place.
