Islamabad: Head of Pakistani Army General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday urges international joint efforts to avoid future humanitarian crises in Afghanistan which is torn war.
Baju Gen made a statement during a meeting with US special representatives for Afghanistan Thomas West, who called him at the Army headquarters in Rawalpindi.
During the meeting, things that have a common interest, current security situation in Afghanistan and bilateral cooperation opportunities in the context are discussed, according to a statement issued by the Army.
Bajwa genes say that “the world and the region cannot afford to buy an unstable Afghanistan, emphasizing the need for global convergence to prevent a so-towering humanitarian disaster,” he added.
The Afghan economy faces a major crisis after the Taliban seizes power in Kabul in mid-August, amid the withdrawal of US troops and NATOs that are chaotic from the ripped country of war.
After the hardline Islamist assuming strength in Afghanistan, the international community freezes the billion-dollar assets abroad and stops all funds to the country.
According to the UN figure from the beginning of November, nearly 24 million people in Afghanistan, around 60 percent of the population, suffering from acute hunger.
It includes 8.7 million living near famine.
The increasing number of malnourished children has filled the hospital environment.
Baju Gen also thanked Thomas West to participate in the 17th Exceptional Session of the Foreign Minister of Foreign Minister of Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) on Sunday in Islamabad.
The OIC Summit issues a round resolution that underlines the need for joint efforts to rebuild the required capacity from the relevant Afghan state institutions to overcome the challenges posed by terrorism, narcotics, smuggling, organized crime, and irregular migration.
US special representatives for Afghanistan appreciate the role of Pakistan in Afghanistan situations, special efforts for effective Pak-Afghanistan border management, and promised to play their role for further increase in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels, the statement was added.
