Mumbai: In the midst of a lot of stance, the Standing Committee of Civic Sena-LED Sena on Monday cleanses a road repair proposal of 1,800 crore.
BJP, Former Sena Alliance Partners in BMC, seek details about the status of previous road repair work carried out before giving sanctions of new works.
But Shiv Sena and Congress encouraged to pass a proposal stating that there was a delay caused by repairing new roads working for this year.
The BJP Group leader Prabhakar Shinde said that almost all new road employment contracts were given to the contractor who had quoted a sharp estimate below.
He said the government had to answer several questions on the previous road repair worked before the panel gave a new tender sanction.
“The Civic Administration has canceled the previous road repair tender which states that they are steep under estimates.
But this time the contractor quotes 13-27% below estimates.
At a low level, how can we expect contractors to provide good quality works? Shinde asked.
BJP-Nomination Corporator Bhalchandra Shirsat, meanwhile, said that while there was provision for quality management agents to be appointed but no one examined the credentials of the agent.
“Also, when will such agents be appointed?,” He said, adding that the proposal did not have clarity.
However, the leader of the opposition party in BMC and CorCress Corporator Ravi Raja said that in a year when civilian elections are scheduled to be held almost a few months, there is no point in delaying work and stopping proposals.
He was supported by Corporator Congress Twice Jawl Junja, who said that the proposal must be passed because a lot of road repair work continued to be delayed too long due to procedural delays.
The Shiv Party leader at BMC Vishakha Rau said that while it was important to start the way to start, it was also important that the standard policy was made to state the extent to which the contractor quoted below estimates.
“The Civic body cannot continue to retupy and it is important to start running on the ground too,” said Raut.
Support City Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar, who attended the meeting, told the panel that good quality work would be maintained when making improvements.
However, BJP party members who were not satisfied with the LED panel Sena who passed the proposal walked out of the meeting to mark their protests.
