Bengaluru: Karnataka reported five more cases of Covid-19 Omicron variants on Monday, taking the state counting to 19, according to Health Minister K Sudhakar.
Health officials said patients had mild symptoms and none of them had a history of travel or contact with international tourists.
Four of newly infected ones are women.
All five are fully vaccinated.
A 54-year-old woman from Dharwad; A 20-year-old woman from Bhadravathi in Shivamogga; A 82-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman from the same family in Udupi, and a 19-year-old girl from Mangaluru was an infected patient omicron.
Bhadravathi students tested positively on December 6, 218 contacts that took the test, 26 positive for Covid.
“The genome sequencing report is awaited,” said a health worker.
This is the first Omicron case detected in Shivamogga.
Cases from Udupi and Mangaluru are part of the cluster sent for genome sequences, which confirm the existence of Omicron.
New tensions were found in six districts, Udupi clusters, 11 boys tested positive in the last week of November.
After that, four main contacts were tested and three positively rotated Covid.
