MySuru City Corporation to open a list of B to increase tax income

Mysuru: To increase its income, MySuru City Corporation (MCC) bound by cash has decided to start the ‘B’ list for revenue sites within its limits such as the model adopted by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanaagara Palike (BBMP).
A corporator team and official led by Deputy Mayor of Anwar Baig on Saturday visited BBMP to learn about initiatives to collect property taxes from the owner.
According to MCC officials, there are 1,92 lakh properties below the corporate limit.
MCC has property tax arrears around Rs 92 Crore for the financial year 2020-2021.
MCC has set a target of RS 140 Crore’s property tax collection for 2021-22.
Adding arrears and targets, the total tax that must be collected by MCC is Rs 232 Crore but can be collected only around Rs 100 Crore.
Because there are around 61 income layout and 31,000 income properties in 65 wards under the PKS, the authorities and selected representatives have decided to open a list of B as it is in the BBMP to collect property taxes from the property.
The BBMP registered the revenue property below B register to expand civil facilities.
Deputy Mayor of Anwar Baig told TII that the 25-member team included senior victims, Chairman of the Permanent Committee and Deputy Commissioner of MN Shashikumar visited BBMP and held a discussion with the BBMP income Department Commissioner with VenkatachalPathy.
“The BBMP has introduced Register B for income property within its limits in 2006 and the initiative has been successful.
We will also introduce register B in MCC to collect property taxes from income property to provide basic facilities.
Decisions will be taken at the upcoming board meeting,” He said.
