Karachi: Head of the Council of Cricket Pakistan Ramiz Raja on Wednesday admitted that Yasir Shah’s leg-spinner was accused of helping a sexual mediator accused of being “not good” for the game here considering that players regularly advised the role of “Ambassador”.
Yasir was named as a pure filed by a couple at the Shalimar Islamabad police station two days back where they alleged that Cricketer denied his friend while finding out that he had rated and made a prolonged video from their 14-year-old niece.
“This is not a brainer, Yasir is a circuit player and while we train and educate these players they are in the position of ambassador and must know who and where to socialize,” Ramiz said at a press conference here on Wednesday.
FIR stated that when the pair approached Yasir to help but he made fun of all the incidents, giving them a threat to live with them and their nephew and said he would use his influence to drag them into the legal battle.
Yasir and his friend, Farhan went to communicate and was still searched by the police in this case.
“I don’t know what the truth is in this case, but it is the fact that the main headline like that is not good for Pakistani cricket and specifically when there is a good feeling through Pakistan Cricket now,” said Chairman of the PCB.
He said that all players contracted, including Yasir, regularly reminded their responsibility as ambassadors and how to behave in public.
“This is not a brainer that they have to know with who or when to socialize,” said Ramiz.
Yasir has played 46 tests and 25 ODIS for Pakistan but skipped a recent tour to Bangladesh due to a finger injury.
Ramiz said he had increased the remuneration of players immediately after taking over as chairman in September because he wanted all players to be financially safe.
“I want these players to earn good enough but they also have responsibility for Pakistani cricket and sports.”
