Kanyakumari: ‘Sijumon,’ Mechanical Pukat Boat from Coachel in Kanyakumari District suffered severe damage when hit by a Panama-flagged cargo ship M v Navios Venus on October 22, returned to the sea after undergoing repairs.
But 17 fishermen on a mechanical boat is awaiting compensation from shipping companies.

Two months after the tragedy, the ship has been repaired with compensation and has been released at sea.
“This will be taken for fishing after Christmas,” Rajamani told Toi.
However, fishermen have not received compensation from shipping companies as a conversation that is useful for the same thing has not been held.
They regret that they suffered injuries, underwent mental suffering and also suffered economically because of the incident.
As the size of the ad hoc, the ship owner has financially supported the family with a portion of the relief he got from the shipping company.
