Kolkata: Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) has completed the alignment of the Flyover proposed from Park Circus to Ballygunge in Syed Amir Ali Avenue.
Officials said the cost of a two-kil blanket was pegged around RS 350 Crore.
KMDA officials said that the final detailed project report (DPR) of the flyover was prepared and submitted to the State Finance Department to be approved.
In accordance with the proposed alignment, the two-way flyover, which will have four lanes, will take off from the area near the Quest Mall, close to Park Circus Crossing, and ended near Moitra Road-Anil Moitra Road Crossing.
Previously, it was planned that the flyover would have an arm of Maa Flyover, but the officials threw this idea later.
The proposed flyover alignment has tweaked several times.
Following the original plan, the arm should be frozen from Maa Flyover and ending in Ballygunge before the garahat crossing.
The authorities even waved the tender for the project.
However, the tender was canceled after the bridge advisory committee had come up with a revised plan, asked the authorities not to divide the arm of Maa Flyover but to establish an independent two-way flyover from Park Circus to Ballygunge.
The Bridge Advisory Committee has proposed that two-way roads must be frozen from the edge of the park bound by the circus to get off at Gurusaday Dutta Road.
However, the plan to build a road must be canceled later because of space constraints.
The authorities involve the consulting company to complete the proposed flyover alignment after the ramp plan was discarded.
“The previous plan to capture the arm of Maa Flyover was not considered because it would only benefit the drivers who came from or entered Maa Flyover.
The revised plan will serve all the south and north cars that take the flyover,” said a kmda official.
Going with a survey done before, so the proposed Word appears, around 1,500 cars tend to use it per hour during peak time.
“All questions from the Ministry of Finance on the proposed flyover have been given satisfactory answers.
We are ready to float the tender after we receive the final approval,” said a KMDa official.
Meanwhile, Kmda is also awaiting environmental permission to bypass em proposed to the new city flyover and also seeks to complete several newly quiet plans in and around the city, said an official.
