England captain Joe Root has supported him to get hundreds of Ashes in Australia when he prepares for the third test starting Melbourne on boxing day, a game that must be won if Britain must claim the series.
Root has looted an English record of 1,630 tests running in 2021 and has two and a half century in the ash series so far with 89 in Brisbane and 62 in Adelaide when his team slipped into two severe defeats.
He also saw Marnus Labuschagne Australia took over his position as number one batsman in the world after the second test.
“I feel in a very good place with my punch,” said the root as quoted by Sky Sports.
“I feel confident I can, in the next three matches, banging on a hundred in this condition.” I know it’s a daring thing to say but my conversion rate this year, it’s not a problem at all.
“I have an understanding of how I want to score my goal.
There is clarity there, I just need to keep putting yourself in that position, just having a little between my teeth.” The root hasn’t scored a century in Australia, where it averages under 40 years, far below the total test of 50.01.
89 before in this series is the highest score below.
But he also expects a response from the team all in the boxing exam (December 26), starting from three games that must be won.
“There is a lot of motivation for the group and we did everything we could to confirm it 2-1 when we left here,” Root said.
“If we appear anywhere as we can do, we will put them (Australia) in an uncomfortable position, we will push back and we will find ourselves in a very different situation leaving this land.”
