M’luru ZP’s school letter campaign found 35K people who were not vaccinated

Mangaluru: The Ministry of Education in Dakshina Kannada has gathered information about 35,000 people who were not vaccinated through a letter campaign carried out through school children who had to report their parents’ vaccine vaccine status and other family members.
Many of the 35,000 adults who are not vaccinated do not take their photos from fear or due to illness.
Zilla Panchayat, who runs a letter campaign for 45 days, collects data from schools and officials has focused on this household to convince not vaccinated to take their shots.
Responses were collected from 1.75 lakh children in government schools in rural areas.
CEO of Zilla Panchayat Kumar said that the letter campaign was launched through schools in the district with the support of district administration.
“We send letters to students through schools seeking details regarding the status of vaccine members of their family and others.
Children are asked to provide details of those who have received vaccines and those who are not in their homes.
Children are also asked to give reasons — Why family members or relatives have not taken vaccines.
We have received details, including the name and address of 35,000 beneficiaries that meet the requirements that have not taken the vaccine, “he said.
The head of all schools gather information and submit details to each other.
This list has been forwarded to the Public Health Center (PHC) of each region, he said.
“According to information provided by children, nearly 80% of 35,000 beneficiaries who qualified not to take vaccines because of fear or disease Being given, “he added.
Initially, there was reluctance to vaccinate, but the situation was better now, said Deputy Commissioner Dr.
V Rajendra.
“While we have a 17.15 lakh target population in the district, 16.01 lakh (93%) has received the first dose.
We create awareness through religious leaders.
We have set the goal of giving the first dose to at least 75,000 of those who have not been included in A week, “DC said.
In total, 1.15 beneficiaries that meet the requirements of the lakh in this district have not been brought under the coverage of the vaccine.
