Pune: Four men fired several rounds of bullets to kill 38-year-old wrestlers in his SUV in Shaman Pimpalgaon near Chakan, about 40 km from the city, around 10pm on Thursday.
“Prima Facie, the old competition seems to be a motive behind the murder,” said Deputy Commissioner Pimpri Chinchwad from the Polri Manchak Iper told TI on Friday.
“We have established an attacker’s identity and our four teams are trying to arrest them,” he said.
Based on the recovery of blank rounds inside and around the place of crime, the police said the attackers fired at least eight to 10 rounds of victims.
“There are eight bullet wounds in the body of the carale.
We have found 10 empty cartridges from the crime scene.
The way the crime is executed indicating it as a pre-planned action,” said Ipper.
Karale is a wrestler and is known as “Pahillown” at Shel Pimpalgaon.
He used to run the wrestling academy at Shel Pimpalgaon.
This is the third murder in the Pimpri Chinchwad area in the last seven days.
The recording of the CCTV recovered by the police showed Karale opened the door of the sports vehicle (SUV) to take the driver’s seat.
He will start his vehicle when the attackers come into the car and stop behind his SUV.
One of them hurriedly approached the SUV from the right side and was fired in a carale from close range.
Another attacker followed and fired a few more shots, because Karale tried to move to the adjacent chair.
A third-striker then came from the left side of the SUV and fired a shot, hardly giving the chance to escape or survive, police said.
All events occurred within a few seconds, when the attackers quickly returned to their car and drove.
Karale’s friend and several people from around him rushed to the place and ran towards the car, but was in vain.
The carale was taken to the hospital in Chakan where he was said to be killed by a doctor.
Ipper quoted an investigation so far and said Karale on Thursday night went to meet a friend at the last beer shop at Shel Pimpalgaon.
“He was attacked, when he left the shop.
The attackers did not give him the opportunity to escape,” the officer said.
On December 18, Yogesh Jagtap, a criminal on the police record, was shot dead in the Chowk catepuram at Pimple Gurav.
