Mumbai: Two people were arrested in Mumbai for posing themselves as an officer of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and extorted money from people, including actor Bhojpuri, police said on Sunday.
During the investigation, Mumbai Amboli police found that a 28-year-old BHOJPURI actor died of suicide in the Jogeshwari area after the two defendants tried to extort Rs 20 lakh from him.
Then, the police registered the case under ADR and section 306, 170, 420, 384, 388, 389, 506, 120 billion, and 34 of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC).
Both were accused of being identified as Suran and Pravesh, Mumbai residents.
“The actor was present at the rave party when these two fake NCB officers demanded Rs 40 lakh from him and his friends.
Then, they realized Rs 20 lakh from him.
It was also revealed that Arif Ghazi, who attended the party with the actor, was behind him , “Police said.
“After the incident, actor Bhojpuri became afraid and suicide by hanging on Thursday,” police added.
Further investigation is taking place.
