Mumbai: Film producer Parag Sanghvi, was arrested in a cheating case of rs 13.7-crore, has been returned in judicial detention.
Sanghvi, which is the CEO of Alumbra Entertainment, is one of the partners in a construction company, along with Jitendra Jain, Director Kamla Landmarc.
Jain was arrested by Wing Economic Wings (EOW) in 2016 for allegedly deceiving home buyers; Then, some pine was registered against it and his company.
Sanghvi, was arrested on Monday by a special investigation team (sitting) from EOW, on Saturday produced before the holiday court.
The detention of justice will be until January 7.
During the investigation, the police had called the Chartered Accountant Chartered Sanghvi, which was asked to produce documents including the Sanghvi and corporate balance sheet, bank reports, transaction invoices, and refund of income tax.
“When reviewing the documents, the defendant told us that the money received from Kamla Landmarc was transferred to the PB lifestyle company.
He was then suspected of investing money in four different companies where he suffered a big loss,” said an officer.
The police said that in all, five violations were registered in Sanghvi.
He has been drawn into two; Three waiting, police said.
The new case is related to complaints by Sujal developers, who have bought three flats in 2013 at Turner Road from Kamla Infra and Kamla Landmarc Properties, both companies owned by Kamla Landmarc Group.
On Jain’s request, the complainant rented three flats to Alumbra and Metallica Pvt Ltd.
Although the flat was rented, without the knowledge of the complainant, Jain, Sanghvi and several others sold it to third parties and caused alleged losses to end Rs 13.7 Crore.
“At the time of purchase, Jain has offered a tampombe rental complainant for these units.
The 11-month license agreement for three units was signed between your complaining and Jain, Alumbra and Metallica companies,” said an officer.
