A big voice was heard in Mungganahalli from Chintamani Taluk in the Chikkaballapur district around 19:30 on Saturday, triggering panic in the area.
Sounds like the explosion came a few days after three mild earthquakes destroyed several villages in Chikkaballapur Taluk on December 22 and 23.
The mysterious explosion was also heard at Mittahalli Gram Panchayat at Chintamani Taluk last month.
When they heard the voice, the villagers of Mukganahalli rushed out of their homes, afraid of other earthquakes and spent outdoors.
Many even prefer to have dinner under the open sky.
They say such sounds have repeated for a few days now.
Police officials and income visited the village and talked to the residents.
Tahsildar Hanumantharayappa told the villagers that a similar incident had occurred in and around Mittahalli Village from Taluk in November, but there was no damage.
Krishna Venal, a senior geologist, Chikkaballapur District, told Toi even though a big voice was heard in Mungganahalli, it was not a tremor because it was not recorded as seismic activities.
He said such an incident was the effect of tremor and could occur for several weeks.
