Nagpur: The Pombhurna Tigress, which was brought to the Gorewada Rescue Center on December 24, surrendered to injury on Sunday night.
This is the death of the 42nd tiger in this year’s state.
As reported, the animal was saved from the culverts in the middle of a high drama on Thursday from the range of Pombhurna forests in the Central Chanda.
Apart from the best effort by the veterinarian from the Research and Wildlife Training Center (WRTC), the animal cannot survive.
“The tiger is very dehydrated, enough anemia, cachexia and carries critical conditions.
The lower jaw is completely damaged by bilateral mandibular fracture, muscle loss, distorted oral cavity floors,” said Dr Shirish Upadhye, WRTC director.
He said the necessary treatments were offered with intravenous fluid, antibiotics and supportive therapy institutionalized together with changing mouth wounds.
“Tigers cannot swallow boiled eggs or raw eggs offered to him,” said Dr.
Upadhye.
Blood profile is also carried out which shows severe general infections.
On Sunday night his condition became more critical, with a compromised cardiorespiratory function and tigers died around 7pm.
