Thiruvananthapuram: The highest meeting of district police heads and overseeing excavations and IGS was held here after a situation such as riots involving migrant workers in Kizhakkambalam on Sunday.
At the meeting, the National Police Chief Anil Kant instructed all district police chiefs to entrust SPS representatives, who deliver sub-divisions, to connect with all contractors and migrant workers entrepreneurs to build better communication with workers.
They were asked to highlight the importance of migrant workers for the state’s economy and the need to refrain from violent behavior in any event.
The police were instructed that the message must be carried out clearly to the workers that one bad incident brought a bad name to the whole community.
They must continue to contribute to the country, peacefully, as they have done in the past, they were told.
Deputy Deputy SPS and House Officers (Shos) were asked to visit work camps to build relationships with workers.
Police Helpline numbers, the contact number Sho and SPS deputy must be distributed with workers to improve their complaints quickly.
All Sho was also asked to nominate an Hindi-speaking police for attending their complaints.
Officers were also asked to prepare reports taken by action based on their visits to work camps and workplaces.
The police have evaluated events in Kizhakkambalam as a strange incident in the state, which cannot be repeated.
“It was unexpected, but it could not happen again.
However, these incidents cannot be completely ruled out in the future which is why the cons-actions are framed,” said a senior police officer.
The police have been ordered not to use strength, maintain restraints, unless a situation arises where the local population is harmed.
“In Kizhakkambalam, the problem died when the police waited patiently until those involved in riots became conscious to Fajar,” added the source.
A total of 164 workers were arrested and returned under various parts of the IPC and prevention of damage to public property laws.
Meanwhile, the state police decided to bear the costs of treatment of injured police in the attack in Kizhakkambalam.
Anil Kant said that the police would replace all police care costs.
