Chennai: The day after a four-story building collapsed in Thiruvottiyur, experts from Anna University began checking the remaining beams in the colony.
Tamil Nadu Nadu Habitat Development Agency (TNUHDB), previously the Tamil Nadu waste cleaning board, also ordered inspection of all its buildings in the city over 25 years old – 17,734 – before Friday.
Those who are considered dangerous will be destroyed.
The building that collapsed was 28 years old, while the general structural stability of TNUHDB of Temension was 30 years.
On Tuesday, Tnuhdb asked the residents of several blocks in Thiruvottiyur to move until the inspection of experts was completed.

R Ravi, a resident, said the crack appeared on the wall.
“Residents can feel vibration because of the use of machines.
Residents in several blocks are asked to empty and accommodate in the wedding room,” he said.

TNUHDB officials said that they had asked residents only a few blocks to move according to the advice of experts.
“But many other people emptied together with their belongings,” said an official.
Residents of three blocks at the entrance tend to be allowed to remain because there is no problem with the security of the structure, he added.
TNUHDB Managing Director M Govinda Rao said that regarding the primenses in all municipal actions will be taken based on reports of experts.
“The structure identified as dangerous will be destroyed for reconstruction.
At the same time, the steps will be taken to accommodate occupants during that period,” he said.
Minister of Man Chief M K Stalin on Tuesday praised Thaniyarasu, who was on time to save the lives of people in 24 units collapsed.
