Chennai: Even while quoting a high debt burden of Tamil Nadu to postpone the appointment of his polls, the DMK government on Tuesday announced an increase in unfortunate benefits from 17% to 31% to employees and retirees which would result in an additional annual expenditure of 8,724 crores.
Minister of Man Chief M K Stalin ordered a rate of 14 percentage points in the dear allowance, which will result in a more than 82% increase in the allowance for employees and retirees from January 1 next year.
On September 7, Stalin had told the Assembly, while making a statement below Section 110, about the intention of the state government to improve wealth benefits for employees and retirees from January 1, 2022, releases added.
Stalin also provided additional 170 crore sanctions as a pongal gift for the ‘C’ and ‘D’ employee category, besides retirees, those in special Timescale and those who retire from such village administration services.
While the ‘C’ and ‘D’ category will receive 3,000 as a pongal prize, for retirees it will be 500.
People in Timescale specifically will receive 1,000 and former village administration officers and those who retire from a special time scale will receive 500 gifts Pongal from the state government.
Although the country struggles under the debt burden, Stalin has ordered the sanctions of the amount needed to pay dear allowances remember the welfare of government employees and retirees, said the broadcast.
