Shimla: Himachal Pradesh reported 2 positive cases of Delta variant on Wednesday.
They are 32-year-old women from bathing and a 26-year-old man from Hamirpur.
They have a hidroy trip from Estonia and Russia and both asymptomatic.
The first is fully vaccinated and the last not.
A senior health department official said that according to the list shared by the Indian government, a total of 2,266 international passengers have arrived at Himachal Pradesh since November 20 and so on until now.
He said that only 1911 international passengers were eligible for RT-PCR testing while the remaining 355 did not qualify for testing because some of them could not be traced, some had completed 14 days of house isolation, some returned abroad and several living countries.
He said that from 1911 international passengers who were eligible for testing, the RT-PCR test of 1078 passengers had been carried out.
He informed that of the 1078 RPCR tests conducted, 10 samples were found positive and this was sent to the sequencing of the intact genome (WGS) to NCDC Delhi for the final confirmation of the virus.
Of the 10 samples sent, one sample was found positively for the omicron variant on December 26 and the positive case Omicron was a 45-year-old woman from bathing district with a history of travel from Canada who had received a covid-19 vaccine dose.
Officials have appealed to the public not to panic but follow the corresponding behavior of covids such as wearing masks, maintaining social distance, often wash hands or use cleaners.
He said that people had to get themselves vaccinated with a covid vaccine dose, if not vaccinated.
