Hyderabad: Three Literary Personality from Telangana, including Folk Balladeer-Poet and TRS MLC Goreti Venkanna, has won the Sahitya Academy award for 2021.
Awards announced by the Academy on Thursday.
Venkanna won awards for ‘Vallankitalam’ (General Snipe’s rhythm), compilation of her poetry, while Devaraju Maharaju from Warangal Regency was awarded Bala Sahitya Purascar for the game ‘Nenu Ante Evaru’ (who I).
Tagulla Gopal, a young poet and teacher, won Yuva Sahitya Purascar for his ‘Dandakadiyam’ book (bracelet).
Venkanna and Gopal Hail from Palamuru (Mahbubnagar District meant Mahbubnagar), which used to be news for migration of people to Mumbai and other countries looking for work.
Maharaju is known for the translation of his poet and telugu writer, Hiringavansh Rai Bachchan, ‘Madhushala’ with the same name soon after winning the coveted awards, Venkanna said Telugu literature had a rich lyric poetry tradition.
KCR: The aroma of Venkanna’s work from the land of Telugu Lyrical Poetry countries has contributed greatly to classical carnatic music, he added.
“I feel my literary plants have given the right results now.
I thank the jury for correcting mistakenly that only poems like the temple are considered poems.
Beautiful lyrical poems are also poetry,” he told Tii.
Praising Venkanna’s work as ‘Aroma of Telagana Land,’ Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said: “Telangana-rich literary tradition is now known by the world as three literary people from the country have won prestigious awards.” According to the academy, engraved copper plates, scarves and a number of 1 lakh will be given to the winner of the grand prize sahitya academy and engraved copper plate and the 50,000 number will be given to the winner of Yuva Puraska and Bal Sahitya Puraslasta.
