Ahmedabad: Coronavirus exploded again in Gujarat because the country added 548 new positive cases in 24 hours on Wednesday.
The case jumped 39% compared to 394 infections on Tuesday and was the highest daily calculation in the last 203 days.
Data from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare for December 28 revealed that Gujarat added 24% of the active case in a day – this was the second highest in the country, behind only 25% in Bihar.
In the case of absolute numbers, Gujarat with 334 was only behind Maharashtra 1052 and contributed 21.6% of India’s active case for that day.
Gujarat recorded 19 cases of new omicron variants in 24 hours, taking a total of 97.
More than numbers, experts raised concerns over the level where the case grew in Gujarat – a doubling rate (CDR) for a booth of less than two days – from 204 to 548 in two days.
It has taken four days for cases up from 111 to 204.
During the early second wave, it has taken 10 days for two fold cases of 1.122 in March to 2,276 on March 27.
During the first wave, it was taken 26 days for cases to double from 860 to 1,607 between 1 to 27 November.
Experts say that double the case, which is five times faster than what is recorded during the initial phase of the second wave, perhaps a manifestation of the ‘third wave’ pandemic in the state.

In addition, the analysis of active cases revealed that the state has added 50% of the 1,902 cases in just three days – on December 26 the country has 948 active cases.
Dr.
Dilip Dilip Gadhvi, President of Ahmedabad Medical Association (AMA), said that the doctor members have recorded a surge in cases where patients reported symptoms such as Covid and positive tests on RT-PCR.
“The next few days are very important, and we appeal to all to be careful.
Gujarat – and especially Ahmedabad – have recorded an exponential increase in everyday cases in the past few days,” he said.
