Margao: Ex-Zilla Panchayat members from Curorim, Moreno Rebello, on Thursday resigned from BJP, almost 20 days after he joined a lot of fanfare.
He said he was under the extraordinary pressure from his supporters and even some of his family members to stop following the social media report on the attack on minority religious places in Christmas countries ruled by BJP.
He said that recent developments throughout the country, “especially atrocities against minorities, created many problems for me, because people began to press me to leave BJP.” “Midnight Christmas Sermon finished my mind’s peace.
I can’t enjoy Christmas.
It’s too much pressure, and I can handle it again,” he said.
With the Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant and a number of Senior BJP leaders who had fallen in Curorim to welcome the rebellion into the folds of the party on December 10, it was clear that the party would nominate him as a candidate in Curorim, Congress fortress.
He said the local BJP unit member approached him and at the BJP leadership guarantee that they would do 14 development work he had registered, he joined the ruling party.
Rebello said on the one hand, BJP did not consider him confidence and that the development of the development proposed by him was still not maintained.
“Maybe, they don’t take me seriously”.
He said it was on the other hand, there was great pressure on him for joining BJP in the light of developments in other parts of the country “since I joined BJP, there was too much pressure on me, with supporters I questioned my motives.
I felt weakly weak.
I am now a relieved person, “Rebello told reporters after submitting his resignation.
He, however, claimed that he had no plans immediately to join another party or to fight for the poll.
“I just took myself from a problem I made myself.
I want peace now,” he answered for a question.
He said if he took personal benefits, he would not be able to leave BJP.
Rebello said he had stopped Congress because he was sure that then sat MLA (Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco) would get a ticket.
