Tampa: US Disease Control and Prevention Center on Friday reported more than 75,900 new Covid-19 cases in Florida.
Tally has raised an average of 7 days every day to 42,600, which is twice as high than the peak of this summer’s surge when the Delta variant triggers a surge in infection in the state.
Friday’s report marked a one-day record for the number of new cases in Florida.
It breaks the record set the day before when more than 58,000 cases are reported in the state.
Omicron variants from Coronavirus have surged in Florida and crossed the nation for the past few weeks.
The number soaring during the holiday season has sent tens of thousands of people to Covid-19 testing centers throughout Florida, producing a long line in many regions.
Three people fainted while waiting in line at the test site Tampa on Friday morning.
Authorities received three medical calls at the Al Lopez Park test site, according to Lauren Rozyla, a Tampa City spokesman.
He said one person who left before the medical officer arrived, but two women in his 60s – both with a history of blood pressure released – fainted while standing in line.
