Ahmedabad: A 24-year-old woman has filed a complaint to the police who stated that her in-laws told him that they would cut his legs unless he got Rs 1.5 lakh from his parents.
The case has been submitted under household violence and the Dowry ban law.
The police from the board registered the case on Thursday.
The woman told police that she was married in 2017 and her father had given a dowry.
He said that a few months after marriage, her husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law began to torture him.
He said his husband regularly attacked him.
The woman said her husband used to abuse her, telling her that she didn’t bring enough dowry.
The four then continued to press it to get Rs 1.5 lakh from his parents.
When the woman refused to resist her, her husband threatened to cut her legs to make her disability.
The complainant stated that he went to his parents ‘house but took part in the intervention by his community leaders, he was asked to return to his in-laws’ house.
However, his father-in-law did not want to bring him back.
He then gave the application to the local police station.
But his in-laws persuaded his father to have a drawn application.
The woman said the attack and threats continued, forced her to file a complaint.
The Draft Police have registered a case under the Indian Criminal Code 498A (husband or relative of the husband who subdued a woman to atrocities), 323 (voluntarily causing injury), 294b (said inscensation), and 506-2 (criminal intimidation).
