Coimbatore: After train users and selected representatives, the Industrial Agency in Coimbatore and Nilgiris have written to the train to improve train infrastructure in the district.
More than 30 industrial agencies in the district have written to the Ashwini Vaishnaw Railway Minister demanding circular train services in Coimbatore.
With existing infrastructure, the electric train service is a major coiling line (a memory) can begin in the district, which has a population of around 20 lakh.
While the proposal has been delayed for more than a decade, stakeholders pressure it as an important need for growing cities.
They want the train to return five trips between Mettupalayam and Coimbatore from one trip.
They also demanded the recovery of the Daily Express train service from Coimbatore to Rameswaram through the Panachi, Palani, Dindigul and Madurai, in addition to the extension of Tiruchendur – Polacki – Palakkad Express Train to Mettupalayam through Kinathukadavu in Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore.
Express train services overnight from Coimbatore to Rameswaram will also facilitate the movement of comfortable items.
The train must be ply via pollachi, palani, dindigul and madurai.
“We have asked the authorities to restore the train service from Coimbatore to Tamil Nadu Selatan through Pollachi, which was stopped by conversion gauges 10 years ago.
But the train authority has not recovered all trains,” said B Mohan Raj, Secretary of the Welfare Association of Pollengers Train Pollachi.
“We plan to tie all representations and hand them over to MPs, the train minister, Chair of the Railway and General Manager of Railhern Railways,” said J Sathish, Coimbatore Development Board Coordinator.
