Gurgaon: When the city led to the new year, the Gurgaon police control room received 163 calls on Friday and Saturday intervention with most of them being complaints about playing loud music and drunk brawls.
But what was surprising as a pleasant surprise for the police was some of the calls made to wish them ‘happy new year’.
The control room personnel said that they received 78 calls between 10pm and 1 morning.
The police also said that most of the calls they received between the hours mentioned above were voice pollution, especially the hard music played by DJs.
“We are honored by the new year’s desire.
Given that we carefully work all night in the background of the new year and in the middle of work, when we receive such a call, it feels good,” said a police officer who worked in the room control.
For the first time, the streets of Gurgaon were also quiet in the new year and not a single traffic jam incident or unwanted activity was reported, in accordance with the Gurgaon Police.
“There were 8 checkpoints and no traffic congestion reported on the night of Friday and Saturday intervention considering it was also a curfew.
But we are more vigilant and maintain drunk driving incidents.
However, there are no incidents reported and everything is peaceful,” DCP traffic said , Ravinder Singh Tomar.
With the evenings at night applied by the Haryana government starting at 11pm to 5 in the morning, the club in the city was closed at 10:30 a.m.
Most people this year decided to celebrate at home rather than try and get out late at night.
“Initially, we had planned to visit the club in the 29 sector but the thought was that they would close as early as 11 morning disappointing.
So, my friends and I decided to celebrate at home,” said Ronak, a resident of sector 57.
