Kolkata: Veteran Dough Manoj Tiawy on Monday named 21 members Ranji Trophy Bengal less than a year after he made a political debut to rule the Trinamool Congress party in the state.
The former 36-year-old Bengal captain, who is also the Minister of State in Sports and adolescent affairs in the government of Mamata Banerjee, will prepare for the 17th year in first grade cricket.
TIWAY, the last played for Bengal in the final of their Ranji against Saurashtra in March 2020, joined TMC ahead of the assembly poll and won from the Constitution of Shibpur beat Chakraborty Rathin BJP.
He missed last season that was cut off by Covid because he was injured but he returned to the Bengal side under Abhimanyu Easwaran.
Placed in Group B, along with Vidarbha, Rajasthan, Kerala, Haryana, and Tripura, Bengal is scheduled to start their campaign against Tripura in Bengaluru from January 13.
Bengal preparation for the main class tournament has been hit with seven members including assistant coaches.
