Puducherry: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Puducherry on January 12 to inaugurate the National Youth Festival, said Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.
Speaking to reporters after reviewing Covid-19 vaccination drives for children aged between 15 and 18 years at the Government Girls School on Tuesday, Tamilisai said Modi will also inaugurate the commemoration of the final Congress leader and Chair of the Minister of Kamara J through video conferencing.
Modi will visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram.
He said the new year celebration in Puducherry alone did not lead to a surge in the number of Covid-19 cases and argued that cases had increased in the country.
He said 83,000 children aged between 15 and 18 years will be given a Covid-19 vaccine.
So far, 454 children have taken Jab.
He said children were interested in taking Jab.
He said more than one lakh people had not taken a vaccine and appealed them to take a vaccine.
