Panaji: Put the foundation stone for the dock terminal in Santa Monica Jetty, Minister of Pramod Sawant said that the public-private partnership project would not only benefit tourists, but also help the Tourism Department sustainable.
He said that the corporation of cave tourism development has submitted a multi-level car parking facility operation to a private company on a 15-year contract.
Efforts must be made to improve cruise tourism facilities and riverine goa to world-class standards, Sawant told stakeholders.
“We need to make high-end cruise tourism, one of the best tourism activities in Goa.” Said the ministerial head.
“If we want Goa tourism to increase, we need world-class facilities like that.” Sawant said the creation of world-class terminals in Santa Monica Jetty will bring substantial income to the state.
Instead of spending RS 65 lakh on maintenance of multi-level car parking, the government will get Rs 65 lakh from the contractor, Easymile, every year.
Sawant also said that Shanta infrastructure will invest and develop a dock terminal and then will pay Rs 1.3 Crore to the country for the use of facilities with an increase in 15% income every five years.
“The aim is to make sustainable tourism without spending government money,” CM said.
He said that there were no tourists to come to Goa and Panaji left the country without visiting Jetty Santa Monica and that at least 70-80% of domestic tourists tried boating and river cruises.
