Ahmedabad: When someone mentions adoption, one automatically thinks of children.
So when social media ads “try to adopt parents” go viral for the past month, it attracts attention.
Given by Dilip Amlani, a 55-year-old pathologist from Jamnagar, advertising has caused 800 elderly citizens to be part of the concern community that allows them to live a dignified life.
For Amlani, who tilted between Jamnagar and Mumbai where he had three hospitals, this initiative was only the expansion of what he had done for several years now.
Thanks to his efforts, around 2,000 senior citizens have found shelter in various old houses in Gujarat.
He has also established a center that accommodates nearly 100 elderly pairs in Kandivalali, Mumbai.
The idea of helping senior citizens, especially those who were unhealthy, came to Amlani three years ago.
“I have never had my own child.
I have planned to adopt a child but I was busy with work and when I passed.
A few years ago, it surprised me that while everyone adopted children, no one thought of the elders who also needed it Our love and attention, “said the 55-year-old player.
“We decided to do something for senior citizens who have age-related diseases, can’t walk, or wet themselves at night.
We circulate messages in internal groups who seek help to start the center of the elder.
Various people offer contributions and we set up the center First we are in Kandivali, “he added.
That’s the success that Amlani began to get a call from Saurashtra and other places to start a similar facility in Gujarat.
“Because I don’t have infrastructure facilities in Gujarat, I contact various old houses, ensuring financial assistance and voluntary support if they take elders.
In this way, we accommodate around 1,200 senior citizens in the state for the past few months,” Amlani said.
The desire to accelerate its efforts to lead to social media advertisements, declare “Maa Baap JoIye Chhe (need parents)”.
“I was flooded with calls from people who asked me to take their parents.
We began to recognize unhealthy senior citizens and have children who find it difficult to take care of them.
In this way, children often visit their parents And the elders will get the help they need, “he said.
