Mills was closed during the Covid-19 outbreak in March 2020.led by Sachin Mohan Ahir, Chair, Save NTC Movement, which is the Federation of 23 trade unions, looking for the resurrection of the factory.
There are seven NTC factories in Tamil Nadu and five are in the district.

Union members from the factory in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh took part in protests.
