Wrong telephone number? 1.6k contact cannot be tracked

Gurgaon: In the midst of an increase in Omicron cases, more than 1,600 contacts from covid patients reported in the city today cannot be traced.

Officials say that contacts that cannot be traced have given the wrong telephone number or not respond to calls from the control room.
According to data, the number of contacts that cannot be traced was 209 on January 1, which jumped to 332 in January 2.
In January 3, the figure rose to 399, which then increased sharply to 664 a day later.
Officials say about 741 contacts that cannot be tracked in one day on 5 and 281 January at 6.
“We started a contact search a day after the case was reported.
Now cases are increasing and we have to call all positive patients, we call at least twice.
The second call was made after a gap of three to four hours, “said an MCG official.
“Most of these contacts that cannot be traced give the wrong number or they do not answer our calls or turn off their cellphones.” The MCG control room currently has a staff strength of around 35.
A total of 12 new employees to the task of the control room on Friday to ensure effective contact searches, MCG officials said.
