Mangaluru: Mangalore University emerged as a whole champion in the 81st Indian Inter-University Athletic Championship, with six gold medals, six silver, and four bronze.
These are the fourth time men from MU won the trophy, by securing 105 points in athletic meetings, where 350 universities from all over India participated.
Gold Medalization is Adesh Yadav (10,000 m), Vanam Sharma (placed by Parvez (800m), Vikrant Malik (Javelin Throw), and Relay Team (4×100, 4×400).
The silver medalist is Paramjeet Singh (5,000 m walking), nihal Joel (400m), Anila Kumar (Half Marathon), Devaiah Th (800m), Vignesh A (200m) and Ajay Kumar (Hammer Throw).
Bronze Medalization is Hardeep (5000m Walk), Parvez Khan (1,500m), Bhanu Sharma ( Discussing Throws), and Sumith Kumar (3000m Steeplechase).
Incidentally, of the 42 winners who represent Mangalore University, 36 winners come from the Alva Education Foundation, the professional University of Moodbidri.runners-uplovely, Punjab, stands second by securing 42 points, while the University of Maharshi Dayou, Rohtak, stand third by getting 37 points.
University of Mahatma Gandhi, Kottayam, secured fourth place with 23 points.
The best Athletseakshdeep Singh from Punjabi University, Patiala was declared the best athlete in the meeting, for Securing 1,077 points.
He created a new meeting record on a 20 km trip, through 1: 26: 09.08 seconds.
Eight new total Recordsin, eight new meeting records are arranged during the competition.
Adsh Yadav (10,000 m), Akshdeep Singh (20km Walk), Harendra Kumar (1,500 m), Prince (5,000 m), Sidharth AK (Pole Vault), Vikas (Discus Throw), Lokesh Chaudhar (3000m Steeplechase), and Mangalore University (Relay 4×100) creates a new meeting record.
Mangalore University is also a host meeting, along with the Alva Education Foundation and the Indian University Association.
The four-day meeting was inaugurated on January 4 at Swarajya Maidana, Moodbidri.
