The Boston Student Advisory Council, who called on Citywide Walkout on Friday morning, posted a series of demands on Twitter, including two weeks of distance learning and increased Covid-19 testing for teachers and students.
Ash O’Brien, a 10th grade student at Boston Latin School who left the building around a dozen others on Friday, said he did not feel safe living in school.
“I live with two grandparents who compromise immune,” he said.
“So I don’t want to go to school, risk sick and go home.” In Chicago, a group called Radical Youth Alliance called for students to walk out on Friday afternoon and walked to the main headquarters of the State School for a rally.
“We demand salvation, and we demand care!” The group said on Twitter.
Students returned to Chicago school on Wednesday after one week in a canceled class due to the deadlock between the teacher and the school district of the Covid protocol.
The teacher’s Union ended his walkout after attacking the agreement to strengthen protection.
Earlier this week, students in several New York City schools performed walkout to protest what they said was inadequate security measures.
Mayor Eric Adams said on Thursday his government was considering the temporary distance learning option for a large number of students living at home.
Nearly 5,000 public schools throughout the country have closed at least one Sunday because of a pandemic, according to Burbio, a website that tracks school disorders, leaves parents who are exhausted to navigate policy patches Covid-19.
The surge in Omicron seems to slow in areas in the country that was beaten for the first week last week, new cases only rose 5% in the northeastern and south states compared to the previous seven-day period, according to Reuters analysis.
In Western countries, on the contrary, the number of new cases has climbed 89% in the past week compared to the previous week.
Overall, the United States still counted nearly 800,000 new infections a day and recorded patient levels treated at the hospital with Covid-19.
President Joe Biden said on Thursday he would send 1,000 military health workers from next week to hospitals in six states and announced the US government would get an additional 500 million home tests Covid-19 to help meet demand.
In a setback for the President, the US Supreme Court on Thursday hit the mandate of vaccination-or-testing Biden for a large business, governing that the policy surpassed the executive authority.
However, the High Court continued to win the same mandate for health workers.
