Brussels: The Minister of Health of the European Union will try to find a general line on Friday for the fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine potential, amid a surge in cases triggered by the Omicron variant.
The EU drug regulator said earlier this week would make sense to provide fourth dose to people with a very weak immune system, but more evidence needed.
Ministers will discuss the “fourth dose administration,” said a press release issued by the French EU presidency, which regulates video conferencing for the Minister of Health with short notice.
UE members of Hungary and Denmark have decided to launch the fourth dose of Covid vaccine.
Copenhagen said he would do it for the most vulnerable, while the Hungarian government said everyone could get it after consulting with a doctor.
The launch of the fourth dose began in Israel last month, making it the first country to manage the second booster called.

The French Presidency said video conferencing was intended to find a common approach at the EU level on vaccination strategies.
The meeting will also discuss the coordination of other Covid policies, including the possibility of a new joint purchase of a vaccine, as a “vaccine adjusted to the variant will be coming soon,” the French presidency said.
The vaccine adapted with Omicron can be ready as early as March, but the EU drug regulator said it was unclear whether they needed.
