Nagpur: After a doctor on duty was attacked by relatives and friends of a patient at Kunal Hospital, the police began their actions on Friday.
A group of five to seven unknown people ordered under the relevant section along with Maharashtra Medicare service people and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss for Property), which is the main demand for Medicos and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in the city .
No arrest was carried out until the late Friday night.
Police sources told TII that at least three to four people would be arrested in the next 24 hours.
Dr Shishir Shivastava from Kunal Hospital spoke to the media on Friday and demanded action against the perpetrators based on doctor protection laws.
“They have been ordered under the actions along with many other parts including riots and attacks.
The state doctor protection law has strict provisions and we hope the police will follow him,” said Dr.
Shrivastava.
Hospital authorities have submitted CCTV recordings from attack incidents and all relevant evidence to the police and are now waiting for action, he said.
Toi spoke with an investigation officer case that said that the arrest would be made in the next few hours.
The source said that post-mortem the dead person was carried out on Friday and the body was handed over to family members.
The last rite was also carried out on Friday.
The deceased, a 28-year-old man, was declared dead by medical officers on duty, Dr.
Natiq Parwez after being a relative and an angry friend attacked the doctor.
They also searched the hospital.
The Nagpur President of the Branch of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Dr.
Sanjay Deotale demanded strict action on the attacker.
“This is truly a difficult situation for doctors to explain to the brothers when they bring patients in critical conditions or only in ‘brought dead’ conditions.
The doctor in charge must try its best level to convince them.
Attacking Medicos is not acceptable in any condition, “said Dr.
Deotale.
