Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government embed the hope of receiving a higher number of central allocation for highway and drinking water projects in the annual budget this year, to be presented by the Minister of Finance Union Nirmala Sitharaman, in February 19 Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari has submitted a list of state wishes for The Minister of Finance Union during the pre-budget consultation meeting recently.
The official source at the State Ministry of Finance said the state government had sought more funds to accelerate the implementation of various highway projects, which would accelerate economic development.
Several national highway projects, including ambitious coastal highways, Raipur-Vishakhapatnam Economic Corridor, Capital Ring Ring Road, Widening and Strengthening Cuttack-Sambalpur and several other stretches at various stages of development.
As the target has been provided to provide water pipe drinks to all rustic households on March 2024, the state has also expected more funds under the center of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

Northeastern and Himalaya stated only 10% of funds under the scheme because the center had the remaining expenses, the official source said.

Special funds have also been sought to improve the skills of young people working days under the rural work scheme.
Based on the allocation of funds under various schemes sponsored by the center and centralized in the annual budget, the state government will prepare for its budget.
