The number of domestic flights falls half because of covid waves

Coimbatore: The third wave of pandemic has caused 50% dip in the number of domestic flights operated from Coimbatore International Airport.
Only 12 domestic flights are operated from the airport now, compared to 23 a month ago.
Of the 12th, several flights were canceled because of the low patronage.
However, international flights to Sharjah and Singapore continue to operate as usual.
The frequency of flights to destinations such as Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai have dropped.
Flights to Tirupati, Pune and Goa have been stopped.
Three flights were operated to Chennai now, compared to six a month ago.
The number of flights to New Delhi has dropped from four to two, Mumbai from four to three, Bengalaru from three to two and Hyderabad from three to one.
The designation and passenger movements have touched the peak in December 2021 after the service was disrupted by -19 at 2020.
“Only business people and those traveling for education depend on air travel now.
Recreational trips have beaten when people want to avoid unnecessary trips,” said Mukuntha Kumar flight fan.
The standard operating procedure prescribed by the Indian Airport Authority and the Ministry of Health are followed by religion, said Director of Coimbatore Airport Senthil Valavan.
“We take all possible steps to ensure a safe trip.
We have posted feedback from passengers on social media to build confidence and encourage others to use the airport.
All provide positive reviews about preventive steps,” he said.
“The passenger movement will rise immediately after a winding pandemic in many parts of the country.”
